Royal Visit to Swansea

On Wednesday 3rd July 2019, Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited Swansea to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Swansea City Status.

During their visit to Victoria Park and Patti Pavilion, the founder of Peace Mala was formally presented to The Prince of Wales by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of West Glamorgan, Mr D Byron Lewis. She told the Prince that she was delighted to finally meet him, and thanked him for the Prince’s Trust Millennium Award which Peace Mala Youth Team was granted in October 2002. She explained that the award gave us what we needed to set up a wonderful youth project that could promote peace, tolerance, respect and religious harmony in our local community. In the 17 years since that award, and the formal launch of Peace Mala with Archbishop Rowan Williams, the project has grown into what it is today. She handed the Prince a copy of the latest article published in Cymuned, plus a Peace Mala bracelet and our flyer. She hoped that he would find time to read these items and realise the wonderful work Peace Mala is achieving for world peace, community cohesion, and interfaith understanding.
