Dear Headteachers, Peace Mala Co-ordinators, Ambassadors and friends,
As we return to school for the autumn term, many of us may be feeling overwhelmed with our global news and the extreme suffering being endured by many in our world at the present time. In addition, the Covid pandemic is still with us and we still need to exercise caution.
Dr Martin Luther King Jr once said, “Only in the darkness can you see the stars.”
The media tends to focus on dark news but there are also wonderful stories of courage, compassion and justice that many don’t get to hear about. These wonderful stories give us all hope. .
Mother Theresa reminds us, “We can not do great things in this world. We can only do small things with great love.” And this is exactly what every Peace Mala school, youth group and community group is already doing!
His Holiness the Dalai Lama endorsed Peace Mala right at the very beginning of the project. He tells us to “Never give up…no matter what is going on! Be compassionate and work for peace.”
I am so very proud of the wonderful work you are all doing to contribute to this. By keeping the Golden Rule and showing kindness whenever the opportunity presents itself, we can all contribute to a more compassionate and just world. Keep up the wonderful work!
Remember that we now have more worksheets in The New Guide to the Peace Mala…a total of 31 to date. The guide is also available in the Welsh language.
If you need a copy of the new guide, or Peace Mala kits for your chosen year group, we are here to help you. We look forward to hearing from you and wish every blessing on your important work.
