On Friday 12th April, Penllergaer Primary in Swansea, South Wales, celebrated achieving their Peace Mala Gold Accreditation Award. The ceremony was held at their school, where pupils were proudly presented a certificate and Peace Mala flag by founder Pam Evans to commemorate their wonderful achievements. Present at the event were also the High Sheriff of West Glamorgan Henry Gilbert Esq., Cllr. David Phillips Lord Mayor of City and County of Swansea, Norma Glass MBE (Senior Trustee of Peace Mala’s Board of Directors), Mr. Dev Aswani, Rev. John Gillibrand, and Cllr. Wendy Fitzgerald. The children had a lot of fun with both the High Sheriff and the Lord Mayor; with the High Sheriff knighting a pupil for the day with his sword! The Lord Mayor also shared his feather trimmed tricorne hat with several pupils who were asked to stand when they put it on their heads.
There are also some more photos and videos of the ceremony on Penllergaer’s blog here.
Many congratulations to Penllergaer for achieving this award, we are very proud of all the pupils and staff involved. Llongyfarchiadau!
