Peace Mala Endorsement
Abdullahi Arabo, a devout Muslim and a man of peace, originates from Nigeria. He is the former President and Vice President of the Islamic Society and runs the Islamic library and Madrassa at the University Mosque in Swansea, South Wales, UK
Before the arrival of the present Imam, Abdullahi often lead daily prayers at the mosque, which is attended by the many Muslim students and staff of the university and the growing number of Muslims who live in the city and county of Swansea.
Abdullahi is an active member of the Islamic Society at the university and the Inter-Faith Forum of the city of Swansea. He is keen to remove misconceptions about Britain's second largest faith and the fastest growing religion in the world. When Pam Evans asked him if he would be prepared to endorse Peace Mala, he welcomed her to the mosque and spent a morning talking to her about his faith and his support for the vision of Peace Mala. He later wrote to Pam with the following message:
Firstly, I begin with the Name of God, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful.
I have been involved in the Islamic Society Activities in Swansea University for the last three years. All the messages that I am putting forward is to promote peaceful co-existence, awareness, tolerance, respect and unity, regardless of individual faiths.
In Islam we are asked to create a peaceful and just society, and that has been my mission throughout. Therefore, I fully endorse the work and initiative put forward by Peace Mala. This is a stepping stone for creating a peaceful and just society, which comes hand in hand with other similar organisations and peaceful initiatives. We should all work together to better our society while respecting others.
